The renaming, announced July 31, is now effective.
August 3, 2026
By: Patrick Lavery
Editor’s Take: A rebrand signals an organizational shift in focus—in this case, from therapeutics to central nervous system oncology.
Plus Therapeutics announced on July 31, 2026 a rebranding as Cerenome, which took effect Aug. 3.
Company common stock (CSNY) of the newly relaunched company is now trading on Nasdaq.
Representatives explained in a press release that the name change reflects an evolution from Plus Therapeutics’ previous focus. Now, as Cerenome, the company will be an integrated central nervous system (CNS) oncology business.
Cerenome President and CEO Marc Hedrick, MD, said the company’s journey to where it is now began several years ago. What was then Plus Therapeutics first acquired a diagnostic platform. Since then, the company launched a native artificial intelligence partnership.
According to Hedrick, “cere,” representing the brain and CNS, pairs with “nome,” for “expansive knowledge sets that power precision oncology.”
“CNS cancers are not an isolated set of localized cancers, but a systems problem requiring a comprehensive approach,” Hedrick said. “We are already seeing the fruits of the integration of diagnostics, therapeutics, and advanced data analytics.”
Hedrick said the newly-minted company will commercialize innovative products while building a platform for long-term value creation.
Brand names that had existed under the Plus Therapeutics name will not be changed.
These include the CNSide diagnostic, a commercially available cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-based platform. This supports cellular and multiomic characterization of CSF to diagnose and manage patients with or at risk of CNS cancers.
Also keeping its name is Reyobiq (rhenium Re186 obisbemeda), Cerenome’s lead investigational targeted radiotherapeutic. Reyobiq is under evaluation in clinical trials for leptomeningeal metastases, recurrent glioblastoma, and pediatric brain cancer.
Cerenome says effective solutions for CNS cancer now require a multimodal approach. As such, the company will integrate precision diagnostics, targeted therapeutics, and proprietary data going forward.
